Leadership Author & Speaker | Consultant
Author of The Reluctant Leader: From Technical Expert to Human Expert

Leadership speaker and author Eva Doyle, MBA transforms technical experts into exceptional leaders. During her 30 years of corporate and government experince – including 20+ years in leadership roles – Eva watched the chaos as technical experts and accomplished professionals struggled to become effective leaders who had respect and influence.

She knew there was a better way. That’s why she wrote the book, The Reluctant Leader: From Technical Expert to Human Expert, which offers practical guidance for emerging leaders to develop the leadership skills they need.

In her book and keynote presentations, Eva addresses two critical areas. First, new managers need to shift into a new identity – they need to view themselves as leaders and take steps to earn respect and gain influence to get the job done. Next, they need guidance to develop day-to-day leadership skills such as how to delegate and even what to do when an employee cries!

Making that identity shift is the most important step emerging leaders take in their leadership journey. Eva understands how to make that mindset shift both in leadership and in life. At age 48, she signed up for a triathlon that required running, swimming, and biking – even though she didn’t know how to swim! At age 54, she entered a comedy contest and became a semi-finalist. In her keynote presentations, Eva shares these and other inspiring, often humorous real-life stories while offering real-world guidance and practical strategies to become an exceptional leader.

In her varied career, Eva has worked for a commercial bank, a software company, and a highly technical agency of the Department of Defense. As a leader in organizations large and small, Eva has been responsible for multi-million dollar budgets and a 100-person staff.

Eva holds an MBA from the University of Maryland Smith School of Business and a BA from the University of Tennessee, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with highest honors. In a career that spanned the globe, Eva has lived in Germany, Australia, the UK, and the US. Eva’s languages include German, Russian, French, Spanish, Italian, and a smattering of Czech. In addition to her work in leadership, she also knits, crochets, and weaves. She hopes to have an alpaca farm in her future – as well as singing a duet with Stephen Colbert.
